a little of ian's Story
From Agnostic, to Baptist, to Catholic
Dr. Ian Murphy has had a stirring journey into Christianity. Formerly gripped by fears and doubts about the existence of God, life after death, and the meaning of life, Ian experienced a miraculous and palpable encounter with the reality of the spiritual realm that initially led
to Christ. His heartfelt ministry to reach other doubting Thomas’s with the Gospel unexpectedly rocketed to public attention when Ian’s valedictorian speech about Jesus made headlines nationwide, inspiring a Congressional Law from the desk of Senator Arlen Specter.
This momentum landed Ian into the position of head pastor at a Baptist church in Texas, where his ministry remained centered until his decision to enter the Catholic Church. Shifting career direction, Ian became a professor of theology, and his ministry continued through teaching and writing as well as through radio and television broadcasting.
Ian currently resides near Charleston, South Carolina with his wife Rachel. His most recent teaching position was as a professor on faculty at Divine Mercy University, and he continues to travel around the country as a popular Catholic speaker and author. The autobiography of his conversion entitled Dying to Live is an Ignatius Press offering, released May 2020.
